New Sounds, Familiar Grooves at 2016 Brewfest

Live music is back at the Odessa Brewfest (Sept. 10) in Odessa, Delaware, with two stages of great tunes all afternoon. New for 2016 is Rainbow Full of Sound, performing music by the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band and beyond. Returning to the stage for a third year is Brewfest favorite Spokey Speaky.

Rainbow Full of Sound

Rainbow Full of Sound is a mixture of American music, jam band, classic rock, Motown, blues and country, as well as improvisational jazz.

The band features a revolving cast of musicians. The lineup for the Odessa Brewfest will feature Corby Pryor on lead guitar. Called a “guitar prodigy” by the Jerry Garcia Foundation, Pryor performed last fall with Rainbow Full of Sound and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead at the Hard Rock Cafe in San Francisco.

The group is directed by keyboardist/vocalist Waynard Scheller, who has performed on multiple occasions with Weir, as well as with Donna Jean Godchaux (of the Grateful Dead) and many others. Scheller has toured the country for the past year with guitarist John Kadlecik (Furthur/Dark Star Orchestra/Phil and Friends).

Scheller, a Dogfish Head American Beauty IPA fan, is looking forward to Sept. 10. "Combining great music and great beer on a September day, in a casual community-like setting sounds like a recipe for a really fun time," he says.

Spokey Speaky

Wilmington’s Spokey Speaky plays high-energy reggae with an emphasis on fun and musicianship, focusing on the catalog of Bob Marley and his extended family. Spokey Speaky has opened for reggae legends Jimmy Cliff, The Wailers, Toots & The Maytals and others, and has been a headliner at the popular Bob Marley Birthday Concert at World Cafe Live at The Queen since 2012.
