MenuThe Historic Odessa Brewfest is excited to continue with our 2nd annual Men’s Steinholding Competition. And, Historic Odessa is now an official U.S. Steinholding Association Venue Member!
According to the U.S. Steinholding Association, Masskrugstemmen (MAHSS-kroog-stem-men), or beer Steinholding, is a relatively new sport in America, but is quickly growing in popularity.
Steinholding is a traditional Bavarian strength contest in which competitors hold a full one-liter beer stein (about 5 lbs.) out in front of their bodies with a straight arm, parallel to the ground. You go as long as you can and the last person holding with good form is the winner.
The Odessa Brewfest Steinholding Competitions will begin at 2:30 p.m. in front of the Main Music Stage, with the men’s competition beginning first. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place winners. In addition, Odessa Brewfest attendees can visit the Paulaner Beer tent, to test their Steinholding strength throughout the day.
Prizes:
1st Place: 2 VIP tickets to the 2026 Odessa Brewfest; value, $150
2nd Place: 2 GA tickets to the 2026 Odessa Brewfest; value, $120
3rd Place: $100 gift certificate to Cantwell’s Tavern
The men’s competition is limited to 20 participants, so registration is required.
